January 14th:
Met with group partners and familiarized the overall project and the different tasks to be done.
Assigned to work on the IR sensors with Jobin.
January 18th:
Met with Jobin at the lab to try to test out the new QRD1114 sensors.
Had the circuit assembled and ready to be tested.
Unfortunately the arduino board failed to communicate with my laptop(error msgs, cannot upload code).
Concluded that it might be the cable causing the problem or the laptop, decided to come back to try on school computer on Sunday.
January 20th:
Came to lab alone to try to test the QRD1114 sensors on the school computer.
Assembled the circuit and connected to the computer via serial port COM4
No error this time as the code was successfully uploaded on to the arduino board.
Both sensors were working.
Two resistors used(330 ohms, 5100 ohms)
The values shown on the serial monitor ranged from approximately 500(direct contact with the sensors) to 1000 for one of the sensor and 200(direct contact) to 1000 for the other.Tested with the grid. Black portion~maximum value, White portion~minimum value.
February 3rd:
Came to lab and finished the circuit design of the main circuit in software(pro mini, XBee, H bridge...).
The program I used is called Altium. The schematic of the circuit is completed and ready to work on the PCB file(Gerber)
February 4th:
Met with group members to discuss the upcoming tasks and also worked on the beacon sensors.
February 8th:
Came to the lab and began to work on the PCB design. Learned how to use Altium in the PCB design process.
February 14th:
worked on the pcb design of the main circuit.
February 22nd:
Finished the pcb design on the circuit with the pro mini and the h-bridge.
March 3rd:
Working on the part of circuit with the arduino mega.
March 5th:
Finished the pcb circuit design on the part of circuit.
